What if a guest brings additional dogs or stays extra time?

Sniffspot guests select the specific number of dogs and time for each booking. This article is about what to do if a guest brings more dogs or stays longer than confirmed. Using spots without reservation through Sniffspot is a violation of our terms of service. For information about what to do if someone visits a spot without booking, see this article.

Sometimes guests show up with more dogs than confirmed in the original booking. Other times, guests may overstay their departure times. This may come to your attention through your own observations, reports from neighbors, or security camera footage.

If this occurs, please remember safety first, and do not enter your Sniffspot while guests are present.

Then, we encourage you to do the following:

  1. Start by assuming the best. Guests do from time to time make honest mistakes and book the wrong number of dogs, or time gets away from them while they are having fun. When they find out, they are normally embarrassed and eager to make it right.
  2. Check your app to be sure that the guest didn't make a last-minute time change to add more dogs or more time to their booking.
  3. Take a photo that shows the guest and all the dogs present or evidence that they overstayed their booked time.
  4. Message the guest through the app to point out the discrepancy and ask that they modify their booking. You could also make verbal contact from a safe distance outside the Sniffspot, but it is very important never to enter your Sniffspot when a guest is present.

Note: Guests can modify bookings up to 30 minutes past the end of the reservation. Learn more about how to modify a booking here.

If you are uncomfortable, do not receive a response from the Sniffspot guest, or do not receive a modification to the booking before their departure, please feel free to pass it along to us. Contact us with the reservation ID, a screenshot of your messages with the guest, and evidence that they brought additional dogs or overstayed their reservation. We will follow up with the guest to ensure that the booking is updated.
