How does messaging with guests work?

Guests can send you a message from your spot detail page. 

You can access these messages from the Messages section of your host account:

  • On mobile app: Open your account through the icon in the upper right corner, then scroll down until you see the Messages button.
  • On website: Open the nav bar menu through clicking on the icon in the upper right corner, select the Messages option.

You will be notified of new messages through email, text, and website notifications.

You can respond to messages either through replying to the email notification, replying to the text message, or replying through the website interface.

You can contact guests who have not contacted you if they have a reservation with you. In this case, you can go to the reservation confirmation email and follow the link to initiate a message with the guest.

You can also broadcast mass messages to send announcements and promotions to 1) potential guests (guests who have messaged you in the past year but have no confirmed reservations), 2) recent guests (guests who have confirmed reservations in the last 180 days), or 3) upcoming guests (guests who have upcoming confirmed reservations).


Pro tip: hosts can also set up auto messages that are set automatically to first time guests two hours before their visit time.
