Verifying information (for guests)
This is the help article for guests to verify information. If you want to read the article for hosts, click here.
Guests and hosts can verify information to increase trust with other users. Once verified, guests get a badge in the following places, so other users can know they are verified:
- Guest profile edit page
- User profile page
- Chat detail
- Reservation detail page
Guests currently can verify:
- Email: click the link in a verification email we send to your account email to verify that your email is correct and working
- Phone: click the link in a verification SMS we send to your account phone to verify that your phone is correct and working
Here is how you can verify each of these things:
- Email
- When you create your account or update your email, we will automatically send you a link to verify your email
- If you have not yet verified your email, you will see a card in the carousel at the top of your home page that prompts you to verify
- Click the button to send a verification email
- Check your email and click the link in the verification email
- If you are having issues with verifying your email:
- If you didn't receive a verification email, check the notification troubleshooting guide
- If your account is still not showing as verified, please email [email protected] and we may be able to help you get verified.
- Phone
- When you add or update your phone number, we will automatically send you a link to verify your phone
- If you have not yet verified your phone, you will see a card in the carousel at the top of your home page that prompts you to verify
- Click the button to send a verification SMS
- Check your phone and click the link in the verification SMS
