Verifying information (for hosts)
This is the help article for hosts to verify information. If you want to read the article for guests, click here.
Hosts and guests can verify information to increase trust with other users. Guests currently can verify email and phone; hosts can verify identity, email and phone. Once verified, hosts get a badge in the following places, so other users can know they are verified:
- Host profile edit page
- Spot detail page (in the host profile section)
- User profile page
- Chat detail
- Visit detail page
Hosts are currently able to verify the following information:
- Identify: use our partner Stripe to verify your identity by securely uploading photos of your goverment issued ID and taking a selfie.
- Email: click the link in a verification email we send to your account email to verify that your email is correct and working
- Phone: click the link in a verification SMS we send to your account phone to verify that your phone number is correct and receiving messages
Here is how you can verify each of these things:
- Identity
- If you have not yet verified your ID, you will see a card in the carousel at the top of your hosting home page that prompts you to verify
- Click the verification link and follow the prompts to complete your verification
- Since we use a secure 3rd party service, Stripe, to verify IDs we have limited ability to troubleshoot issues. Please reference the Stripe troubleshooting guide or contact Stripe support with issues (link at bottom of Stripe troubleshooting guide)
- Email
- When you create your account or update your email, we will automatically send you a link to verify your email
- If you have not yet verified your email, you will see a card in the carousel at the top of your hosting home page that prompts you to verify
- Click the button to send a verification email
- Check your email and click the link in the verification email
- If you are having issues with verifying your email:
- If you didn't receive a verification email, check the notification troubleshooting guide
- If you clicked the verify link but are still not seeing your verified badge, please email support@sniffspot.com and we may be able to help you get verified.
- Phone
- When you add or update your phone, we will automatically send you a link to verify your phone
- If you have not yet verified your phone, you will see a card in the carousel at the top of your hosting home page that prompts you to verify
- Click the button to send a verification SMS
- Check your phone and click the link in the verification SMS
